Tips to Pitting an Olive
If you're going to cook with olives then you need to remove the pits... it's super simple to do.
HOW TO PIT AN OLIVE:
1.) To easily pit any olive use the same technique as you would to crack away garlic from its skin. You can use a large chef’s knife turned flat or even a dough scraper....any tool that has a wide suface.
2.) Places the knife or scraper on its side and keeping one hand on the handle, place an olive under the flat side of the blade and pound with a clenched fist. The olive should crack away from the pit easily.
3.) If the pit hasn't popped out completely yet, you can now easily squeeze the pit away from the flesh with your fingers.
4.) Now you can use the olive whole or easily chop it for topping a salad or making an olive tapenade.
