Summertime with Strawberries

Summer is practically here. And for those of us who battled the bitter cold, rainy, snowy, grey days, it’s finally time to enjoy the warm weather. At DeLallo, we celebrate the season with fresh summer fruit, beginning with the red ripe strawberry—the perfect June ingredient.

Strawberry Fennel Salad

From cakes and breads to fresh salads and more involved preparations, strawberries are a great way to add a bit of sweet, tart summer flavor to your dishes. We prepared a few soon-to-be classics in our kitchen this week and decided to share with you. Besides trudging home with a full belly, we discovered some tasty recipes and got a head start on our picnic planning.

If you’re looking for a new dessert recipe, we took what we love about tiramisu—the rich layers of spongy, soaked ladyfingers and velvety rich mascarpone—and incorporated one of our newest products, Modenacrem Balsamic Glaze, alongside red ripe strawberries. Besides being a tasty Italian treat, it looked pretty cool, too. If you’re interested in presenting a dessert, whatever the occasion, get out your glass baking dish and start layering for your Strawberry Balsamic Tiramisu.

Strawberry Balsamic Tiramisu

Because we know how you all love dessert recipes (we hear you!), we created a traditional rice pudding dessert using our Arborio Rice with a twist—sweet, glazed strawberries. It’s amazing what the tart, fresh flavor of these berries can do for this creamy classic. But we didn’t stop there. We prepared a fresh salad of crisp, clean fennel and sliced it up with some strawberries and a homemade balsamic vinaigrette.
