Antipasto Paninis | Grilled Italian Sandwiches

Sandwiches work because they are not only a great combination of flavors and ingredients, but because they are convenient. We take that notion of simplicity and make it deliciously Italian. Inspired by many of our products, we are giving you two ways to stack the perfect panini.

Ingredients:

Panini #1:

  • 4 ounces cooked ham, sliced
  • 4 ounces DeLallo Mortadella, with or without pistachios
  • 2 slices DeLallo Provolone
  • 3 ounces DeLallo Roasted Piquillo Peppers
  • 2 tablespoons DeLallo Pesto Sauce in Olive Oil
  • 3-4 pieces DeLallo Artichoke Hearts in Brine
  • Crusty, Italian bread
  • Fresh basil leaves

Panini #2:

  • 4 ounces DeLallo Genoa Salami
  • 4 ounces DeLallo Hot Capicola
  • 2 slices DeLallo Mozzarella
  • 2 tablespoons DeLallo Olive Bruschetta
  • Crusty, Italian bread
  • Fresh arugula

Directions:

First, cut off a 5-inch piece of Italian bread. Then, length-wise, cut bread so that the crust is on either side, like a roll. Assemble sandwich to your liking, though we suggest using the pesto and bruschetta as a spread on the top slice of bread.

Brush both top and bottom of sandwich with extra virgin olive oil. Use a regular frying pan or ridged, grill pan to heat. Apply pressure by-hand with a metal spatula or find a brick to wrap in aluminum foil. Heat on medium-low flame until the crust is browned and the cheese is melted, approximately 3 minutes per side.
