Tortiglioni with Ham & Peas

Our imported Italian pasta in a classic Italian dish: tortiglioni pairs up with savory Italian ham, green peas and the king of cheeses—Parmesan! This recipe is the perfect way to give everyone at the table something they'll love... creamy, cheese goodness!

Ingredients:

  • 1 (1-pound) package DeLallo Tortiglioni or Rigatoni
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon DeLallo Extra Virigin Olive Oil
  • 1 small white onion, diced
  • 2 cups frozen peas, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons chicken stock or water
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 pound Prociutto Crudo or cooked ham, sliced into thin strips
  • 1/4 cup DeLallo Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • Salt and pepper

Directions:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add pasta and cook until just al dente, according to package directions.

Melt half of the butter with the olive oil in a large saucepan, until foamy. Add the onions and cook until soft and translucent.

Next, add the peas and chicken stock to the pan, cook for 3 minutes, stirring. Add the ham and cook for another 2 minutes. Bring pan to a low simmer and add the cream. Cook this way for 5 minutes.

Drain the pasta, reserving about 1 cup of pasta water to finish sauce. Add the hot pasta to the saucepan. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly with sauce. Stir in cheese. Add a splash of pasta water to loosen sauce, if necessary.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.
