Spicy Sausage, Fennel And Roasted Red Pepper Pizza

If you’re bored with the same old pizza toppings, we’ve got a new one for you. Starring spicy sausage, roasted fennel and sweet red pepper, there will be no more snooze-worthy pizza pies in your kitchen.

INGREDIENTS

  1. Combine flour mix and yeast packet in a large mixing bowl with 1 1/4 cups lukewarm water. Stir with a fork until dough begins to form.
  2. Knead by hand for 3 minutes, or until dough is soft and smooth. Transfer to a clean, lightly oiled bowl and cover tightly with plastic wrap. Allow the dough to rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes. (After this step, you can refrigerate for use within 1-3 days.)
  3. Preheat oven to 500˚F.
  4. Meanwhile in a saucepan heat olive oil on medium heat, sauté fennel slices until they become lightly golden, about 8-10 minutes. Set aside.
  5. Add sausage to the pan. Brown sausage on medium-high heat for 10-12 minutes, or until cooked through. Drain grease and set aside.
  6. Cut prepared pizza dough in half. Roll out dough into a circle on a floured surface and spread sauce on dough.
  7. Top dough with mozzarella, sausage, fennel and roasted peppers.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust becomes golden. Remove pizza from oven and top with fennel fronds.
