Meat Lover’s Italian Pizza Pasta Bake

What’s better than a cheesy pasta bake? This meat-lover’s-pizza-inspired masterpiece, that’s what! The best of both worlds, this pasta bake stars our unique Shellbows pasta and is loaded up with all your favorite pizza toppings: Italian sausage, pancetta, pepperoni and Italian tomatoes.

  1. Preheat oven to 425 F.
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain and transfer to a large mixing bowl.
  3. In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, cook the pancetta until browned and crisp, about 6 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer pancetta to a plate and reserve the drippings in the pan.
  4. Bring the pan back to medium-high heat and add the ground beef with a sprinkle of salt. Sauté until cooked through, breaking up meat with the back of a spatula, about 8 minutes. Transfer to a plate with a spoon.
  5. Continuing to cook on medium-high heat, add the sausage. Sauté until cooked through, then transfer to a plate.
  6. Using a paper towel, clean out the saucepan. On medium heat, add the oil and onion. Cook until onion is translucent, about 6-8 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant and lightly golden, about 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes, oregano, salt and pepper. Simmer over medium heat for 20 minutes.
  7. Add the pancetta, beef, sausage, pepperoni, ¾ of both cheeses and the sauce to the pasta. Stir until combined. Transfer mixture into a 9.5” deep-dish pie pan. Top with remaining cheeses and bake in oven for 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve immediately.
