Cheesy Fried Artichoke Hearts with Marinara Dipping Sauce

Step aside, ordinary fried apps, and make room for this cheesy, fried masterpiece starring one of your favorite Mediterranean ingredients. Serve up these incredible stuffed artichoke hearts with our signature fresh-tomato sauce for dipping.

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut a small slit into each artichoke heart. (Do not halve the artichokes.) Stuff each with pepper jack cheese.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the egg with grated Parmigiano, salt and pepper. Place the flour and the breadcrumbs in 2 separate small shallow bowls.
  3. Dip each artichoke heart into the flour, then the egg mixture and then the breadcrumbs. Set aside on a plate.
  4. Fill a saucepan with 3-4 inches of oil. Set at medium-high. Once hot, place artichokes in the pan using tongs. Fry in batches, careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry artichokes until golden brown, turning occasionally to fry each side.
  5. Remove artichokes from oil and place on a paper-towel-lined plate to drain.
  6. Meanwhile, in a separate saucepan, warm up the marinara.
  7. Place artichokes on a serving platter. Serve with marinara.
