Ingredients

Directions

  • Cook your whole wheat pasta until al dente (about 5 to 6 minutes) and reserve 1⁄2 cup of pasta water. Then set the pasta and water aside until the sauce and asparagus are ready.
  • Chop your asparagus and cook it in a skillet with salt and pepper.
  • Combine cheese, milk, butter, garlic, salt, and pepper in a pot.
  • Heat the cheese sauce ingredients until they melt together and a sauce forms, stirring every 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Transfer your cheese sauce to a big skillet and add the pasta water, stirring to combine.
  • Add cooked pasta to the sauce. If it’s too thick, you can use more pasta water to thin it. Add asparagus to the pan and top with Parmesan cheese.
  • Serve with lemon zest and parsley. Enjoy!
