Pasta with Crushed Tomatoes and Ground Pork

We’re keeping it classic with this slow-simmered meat sauce. This simple homestyle recipe is one for the pasta night rotation, featuring ground pork and crushed Italian tomatoes with just the right amount of fragrant herbs.

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package instruction. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan until simmering. Add the onion, garlic, oregano, basil and fennel seeds. Cook until onion becomes soft and fragrant.
  • Stir in ground pork.
  • Add the chicken broth, tomatoes, red wine and pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer. Cook for 30 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the sauce is ready, add the pasta to the pan. Serve topped with fresh chopped basil and grated Parmesan.
